Building Green

Midwest Construction Services has mandated that the protection of the environment is an important element of its corporate policy. The commitment of our companies leadership to fulfill this mandate is evidenced in the following:

Job Sites

We routinely segregate construction waste for recycling when applicable on project job sites. This material is sent to recycling facilities or used in recycling programs and diverted from landfills. Proper soil erosion measures are utilized, safeguarding streams and rivers from fine sediments that can upset their ecosystems. When constructing projects in environmentally sensitive areas, such as critical dunes or wetlands, Midwest Contruction Services personnel works with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure strict enforcement of all applicable laws, ordinances, and directives.

Corporate Offices

We have instituted an in-house recycling program, including collecting paper products, metal cans and containers, empty ink cartridges as well as purchasing recycled office supplies.

Energy management has always been a focus for Midwest Construction Services. Reducing energy costs has been a long term program and vigilant stewardship that has been a focus of Midwest Construction Services leadership since day one.

Personnel

One of the keys to the success of Midwest Construction Services has been the individuals who manage and construct its projects. Training and upgrading professional skills is a cornerstone of the Midwest Construction Services culture. We are currently in the process of obtaining LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) professional certifications for certain individuals within our company. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
